Two Blue Flags in Misano: quality of the beaches and tourist port of Portoverde
Wednesday, 15 May 2013

The Blue Flag is an eco-label awarded to seaside resorts around the world that meet criteria relating to sustainable land management  and the municipality of Misano has received two.

In order to qualify for Blue Flag it is not only relevant to have a good system of sewerage and treatment (and Misano is one of the few Italian municipalities to have the sewer entirely split and purified) but also a high the quality of services (of the beach and harbor), the quality of the waste collection (doubled in the past three years, up to 69% in November 2012), pedestrian areas, green areas and parking lots next to the sea, the bike paths on the river Conca, initiatives to promote environmental quality.

Misano has won the flag 34 times starting from 1989, and since 2000 also Portoverde has been awarded with the Blue Flag for marinas.

The Blue Flag awarded by the FEE to the touristic port Portoverde is due to the services offered to boaters, care and cleaning of the dock, as well as the presence of large green areas and restaurants, shops and sports facilities.
